LINDA'S CORNER--"I'm Big In Japan"

Hellooooooo everyone. So it's 8:10AM here on Saturday in Tokyo (7:10pm Friday in NY). We just woke up about an hour ago. John went for a walk cause he couldn't sleep anymore. He got the most sleep on the plane!! So where to begin. Well, the flight was a little over 11 hours and I think that Laura, Evan and I only got a few hours of sleep. Evan had arranged for Kosher meals on the plane which was pretty funny because the flight attendant had to ask him permission to open his meals to heat them up. He thought the Kosher meal might be tastier....but not so much. We took a train to the hostel which was about an hour of a ride. We got to see some pretty scenic views on the way here, it's beautifullll. Several people were very helpful in lending us their time to try to help us find the hostel. One woman translated the hostel address for us, and another woman even walked with us to point us in the right direction. She gave us candies when she left us. :D
We were pretty tired when we got to the hostel but we needed to stay up a few hours more to beat the jetlag, so after we put our stuff in our room, we headed out for a walk. Tokyo is crazy. There were still some places to eat that were open so we went to one that had an English menu. I had a tofu salad with rice and Laura, Evan and John had sashimi with rice. MMMmmmMMmm yum! The walk was interesting. There are these main streets that are sort of enclosed at the top, and all of these little streets that branch off. There are beautiful paintings on all of the closed gates to the store fronts. Tons of people ride bikes here too. There are bikes parked all over the place which is always nice to see.
So after dinner we came back to the hostel and went to sleep. We're gonna walk around today and Evan The Kosher Man says he will post a blog tonight! Hope all is well in New York!! Oyasumi nasai New York! (Good night)

xoxo
Linda
