The kosher bloggityblog

It's hard being a kosher man in Japan. Almost as hard as being a vegetarian. Linda told our waitress she didn't eat fish and received a look of utter shock and dismay. As though life wasn't worth living without eating the chicken of the sea.

The weather also has been very difficult, especially since I must wear my kosher fur hat at all times around town. Equally as consistent as LA, except far less pleasant: 90 degrees with 150% humidity for the foreseeable future.

In the morning yesterday we started out eating some delicious ramen miso soup for very cheap at a small noodle stand/counter. Despite what I've heard before coming here, Tokyo seems slightly cheaper than NY, especially for sushi related items.

Whilst on our quest to find shoyubi or shogun or something else we ended up in the giant electronics district instead. It was like B&H, except none of my fellow kosher friends were to be found and it took up an entire city district. John is still in love with it and will be returning so he can shoot videos of himself in 300 fps slowmotion. Who knows, maybe he'll film some japanese folks as well.

We wandered around the rest of the day, found giant arcade buildings full of 8 floors of arcade games, went to a giant mall that was way bigger than the arcade buildings and of course did some shopping. The strangest part of the whole day was coming back to the hostel. We of course did not realize, but there was a giant fireworks display scheduled for last night. Getting off the subway, most of the streets were closed and we had to push through a million people and police barricades to get back. And then we all promptly fell asleep at 9pm.
